Call for Volunteers

The Call for Volunteers is now closed.

Thank you all who came forward to lend a hand! 👍🏽

Volunteers keep WordCamps running – sometimes literally. They support the organising team by helping with the dozens of little tasks that go into a successful WordCamp. If that sounds like hard work, it isn’t! Being a volunteer is a rewarding and fulfilling experience. It gives you the opportunity to meet and speak with attendees, help out with speakers, organisers, and be part of a brilliant day.

WordCamp volunteers need no previous experience. All you need is energy, enthusiasm, the ability to think on your feet, and a love for the WordPress community.

What do volunteers do?

As a volunteer, you’re likely to do a few of these things. You won’t be doing one thing all day, and you can pause your volunteer duties to see any specific conference talks you want.

  • Registration Crew – Check in attendees, hand out name tags, and give out WordCamp t-shirts
  • Sponsor Support – Help sponsors set up their tables
  • The Person Who Has The Duct Tape, the real hero of all WordCamps
  • Room Monitor – Ensure the track rooms don’t get overcrowded, and prevent noisy door slamming…
  • Time Keeper – Work with the emcees, video people, speakers, and everyone else working in the room to keep things running smoothly and on time
  • AV/Photography – Help with documenting the event through video and photos
  • Green Room Monitor – Help keep the quiet room…quiet
  • Catering and Refreshments – help lay out, serve, and tidy up the lunch, coffee, and snacks
  • Cable Runner – because someone will forget a cable, charger, or adapter, we guarantee it
  • The Please Go To WH Smith And Get That Thing We Forgot Person
  • Venue Tidy – after the WordCamp ends, help us leave the venue in better condition than we found it

Additionally, while it’s one duty we hope you don’t have to do, all volunteers make themselves available to support any attendee who has a Code of Conduct concern.

If you would like to volunteer don’t buy a ticket just yet – volunteers get a free one.

Sound good? Just fill out the form and we’ll be in touch.
